The CO2 laser is used to remove various skin growths and pigmented moles that do not need to be sent for histopathological examination. The possibility of using the CO2 laser to remove skin growths and some moles is determined by a dermatologist after diagnosing and dermatoscopically examining the lesion. Wound healing after removal of the lesion is faster with minimal changes to the skin.
Basic Information
- The procedure is minimally painful
- After the procedure, the wound heals with a scab that spontaneously detaches within 5-10 days. After the scab falls off, the treated area remains red for a few weeks, gradually taking on the color of the skin.
- The procedure is performed year-round for lesions located in areas not exposed to the sun; lesions on the face, neck, décolleté, and sun-exposed areas are removed outside the sunny period.
- The area must not be exposed to UV radiation for a month before and a month after the procedure; photoprotection with SPF 50+ is recommended after the procedure.
