Otoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that involves adjusting the position and size of the ears. Protruding ears are a congenital defect most commonly caused by overgrowth of the ear cartilage or underdeveloped ear cartilage. Ear plastic surgery allows correction of protruding ears: it makes the ears lie closer to the head. It also allows shaping of the cartilage, which often has not developed properly. The procedure is suitable for all age groups, for children as early as around 5-6 years of age.
Basic Information
