It is a surgical procedure that serves to prevent the fertilization of the egg in the fallopian tubes and thus prevent unwanted pregnancy. It is an irreversible procedure. The principle of the procedure is the interruption of the fallopian tubes - an anatomical structure in which fertilization and transport of the egg to the uterine cavity occur. The function of the ovaries remains preserved, as does the menstrual cycle and hormone production. The functioning of the woman in terms of hormones and her sex life are therefore not affected. This form of contraception is the most reliable, but like other methods, not 100%. Unwanted pregnancy can occur after it - although in a minimal number.
Basic Information
- The procedure is performed laparoscopically under general anesthesia
- The patient leaves home a few hours after the procedure and is under outpatient care
- Recovery after the procedure is very quick, the patient recovers within a few days (approx. 2-3 days), during which rest is recommended
