In men, they are visible as whitish warts of various sizes, depending on the time elapsed since the infection, especially located around the head and the inner leaf of the foreskin. Usually they are painless, but if they are large, they can cause bleeding, itching and recurrent inflammation, and with larger sizes they are also a significant aesthetic problem. In women, they are formed in the labia and the appearance is similar.
The diagnosis is based on the typical are of origin and appearance. Condylomas are typically treated by so-called. “burning” with liquid nitrogen, preparations of podophyllin, 5-fluorouracil or surgical or laser removal. Condylomas tend to relapse, so re-treatment is not rare. In our private health care facility, we are dedicated to laser treatment of condylomas under local anaesthesia. The duration of the laser procedure is approximately 15 min. “Neither hospitalization nor a sick note is required after the procedure”. MUDr. Allen Dimov (surgeon).
